Rakino's Bar Review
Rakino's on Auckland's High Street is one of the few places that could be described as having urban funk. Being on one of Auckland's more affluent streets you wouldn't expect a place of such casual style to be found here. Rakino's is a large space, filled with large, comfortable couches that wouldn't be out of place in a student flat. Yet this only adds to the atmosphere and ensures that all kinds of people feel comfortable here. The staff here are young, laid-back and very approachable, complimenting the unique style Rakino's exudes.Music is a major attraction for many of the guests that come to Rakino's, as it offers such a contrast too much of the music that is popular in many Auckland bars. There is a greater emphasis on dub, reggae and breaks. Later on in night the DJ's will break into harder stuff and its not uncommon for the heavier tones of Andy C or Shy FX to echo down High Street.
As far as the best time to go into Rakino's the barfly finds it difficult to nominate an ideal hour. It can often be as entertaining visiting this business during the day, as it is later in the evening. Still perhaps Rakino's is the ideal location to drop into after dinner and enjoy some laidback tunes while lounging on one of the comfortable couches. Order a beer and soak up the music.
