Khuja Lounge Review
Khuja Bar has been Auckland’s home of funk and soul for the past ten years. Opened in the late 90’s Khuja has remained one of the few constants at the top of town.
A blend of Arabic furnishings and rustic settings provide the perfect ambience for the relaxed atmosphere of Khuja. Housed at the very top of Queen Street in an old art deco building the walk there itself can be challenging enough, yet you must brace yourself for the four flights of stairs that await you at the foot of the Khuja Lounge. Not exactly smoker friendly, but its style and flair make every visit worth the journey.
The people that frequent Khuja Bar could be described as being casually cool, relaxed in their dress and style they can often found relaxing around the bar chatting with the hospitable bar staff. Things may start slowly at Khuja, but once the bands start the energy of the bar really kicks in and the dance floor becomes the place to be. The Khuja Lounge attracts some great bands and given its niche in the Auckland market this bar is definitely unique.
The Barfly loves this bar and if it’s your first time in Auckland or you’re a local, then Khuja must be on your list of destination bars. There are a number of events held at Khuja that are always worth going to and given the combination of atmosphere, music and professional service the Khuja is one place you don’t want to miss.
