What do you think of this new product?

I love the ads. Harvey is earning his money. Yet I don't understand why Lion Breweries have launched this new beer under the Steinlager label. Steinlager already has a market and I don't believe its the kind of market that they're targeting with Pure.

Is it just Steinlager with a something added to it?

I tried it the other day and I'm not so sure it's that good. To me it's just a little too watered down. I like Steinlarger - I like the sharp, crisp taste. When I want something with a little less bite I'll down a Heinie. I could see myself with a 50/50 mix of old and new Steinlarger but not so sure I'd buy it over something else (apart from Speight's).

The cynic in me thinks it's all marketing and that I like! The packaging is sweet. The bottle design is great. Harvey is wicked. But it just tastes like Steinie cut with h20.

I love the stuff, Steinlager is good but it certainly is a little bit harsher on the palate. Compare the Pure to something like a Stella and it's a hands down winner. I wrote a Steinlager Pure Review the other day, I personally think it's one of the best big commercial beers available in NZ.
